If you have a dream, a vision, or even a fantasy that keeps calling you, then you owe it to yourself to pursue it. Not someday. Not when the timing is perfect. Now.

Because the moment you truly commit to a dream, the journey begins.

And make no mistake, it is a journey.

It is early mornings when the world is still asleep. It is late at night when everyone else has gone to bed. It is a relentless effort, endless learning, and countless hours of work with little or no financial return. There will be moments when it almost feels as though life, or perhaps God, is testing your resolve, asking one simple question:

“How badly do you want this”

To survive those moments, your dream must be built on something deeper than money or recognition. It must be rooted in an unwavering belief that what you are doing matters. A belief that you can make even the smallest difference in someone else’s life.

When you truly love what you do, getting up early doesn’t feel like a sacrifice. Working late doesn’t feel like work. It feels like purpose.

Will the journey test you?

Absolutely.

In ways you cannot even imagine.

Self-doubt will quietly creep into your mind. Bills will arrive when income doesn’t. Fear will whisper that it would be easier to return to the comfort of what you once knew. The temptation to walk away from your dream and back into familiar territory will be strong.

But awareness is everything.

The moment you recognise yourself slipping into that rabbit hole of doubt, you can pull yourself back. You can remind yourself why you started.

The truth is, very few people will believe in your dream at the beginning. That’s why a small circle of people who genuinely support you is worth more than a crowd of casual supporters.

Believe in your story.

Back yourself.

Because there will be times when you are the only person who does.

As your dream grows, so too will the voices of the doubters. The naysayers are always waiting in the long grass, ready to question, criticise, or dismiss what they do not understand.

Ignore them.

You must become your own biggest supporter when it feels like all the other fans have left the stadium.

And yes, it can be lonely.

There will be moments when your back is against the wall, when the light seems dim, when the road ahead is unclear, and when it feels as though nobody is coming to help.

Yet somehow, you find a way.

Not because it’s easy.

Because you have to.

Because the dream matters too much.

Having started many ventures throughout my life, I have learned that success isn’t measured solely by results. The journey itself shapes you. It teaches patience when you want speed. Resilience when you want comfort. Discipline when motivation fades.

It leaves scars, too.

But those scars are not signs of failure.

They are reminders of courage.

They are proof that you kept going when it would have been easier to quit.

Recently, I said something to my children that I believe more than ever:

“At 48 years of age, I realise how little I truly know.”

And strangely, that brings me peace.

Because every day is another opportunity to learn. Another opportunity to grow. Another opportunity to make a small difference in someone else’s life.

That is what I continue to do.

I remain humble on this journey, grateful for every lesson, every setback, every breakthrough, and every person whose path crosses mine.

And I continue to follow my dream.

A dream that began as an idea.

A dream that became a story.

A dream that became Erica’s Light

I hope that one day it becomes a global movement built on kindness, hope, healing, imagination, and the belief that one small light can illuminate even the darkest path.

Until then, I will keep showing up.

One page.

One conversation.

One lesson.

One act of kindness at a time.

Because dreams are not given to us to admire from a distance.

They are given to us to pursue with everything we have.

And sometimes, just sometimes, the dream that changes your life becomes the light that changes someone else’s.
