As the seconds and minutes pass by, lost forever, we can often wonder if only I could stop time just to catch up with my to-do list, call to see a friend or make up the lost time with family. Unfortunately we can’t stop the timer of life but we can start to use or time more wisely.
Our time is precious here on earth but we waste so much of it going down rabbit holes of endless scrolling on our phones, watching useless crap on tv, wasting time with people who drain or energy or wasting time in a job that we can’t stomach anymore.
We keep chasing time and keep looking for more but at the end of the 24 hours that’s it there is no more, the 24 starts again. More often than not we start doing the same thing and the vicious cycle starts again and we wonder why life isn’t going better for us.
We have to take back the power of our time and say this is my time, my time to shine, and my time to change. As Jim Rohn said ‘when you don’t control your time, your time controls you.’ Take back the control and build a life that only you know is true to you.
When we have an upcoming break or holiday we seem to find the time to get everything done. We make our lists, we write our goals and we focus in on getting things done. We look back at our day and say ‘wow’ I got a lot done today. I see it myself this week as we are heading off on a break and the mountain of to-do lists is almost complete. As they say time used wisely.
A man I got chatting to yesterday was telling me a true story of a son telling his dad that he would pay him €20 for some of his time, just the two of them to hang out. That story moved me because we can all relate to when someone was looking for our time and we used some lame excuse to get away from it.
It’s time to wake up Sleeping Beauty, time for change and time to get our priorities right. We must invest our time in our health, our personal development, and our families and when we do we invest in our future. A mindful approach in using our time in the right way is the key.
