As a world we can be quick to find fault with others and slow to give praise. At times we look at ways to take our so called bad day out on another. We see it online where people go out of their way to put others down by finding fault with what they have published. But for what, to make yourself six inches taller! We see it in schools, we see it in the workforce and we see it in sport. As Charles Caleb Colton said “if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.”
If we can go out of our way to give praise when something is done right and be mindful in our response to people if something is a little off. There is always a better way to approach something even when we are a feeling a bit stressed. We as leaders need to look at ourselves first and have the awareness when a softer approach is needed.
We find fault with ourselves through our negative self-talk and think nothing of berating ourselves each day. Masaro Emoto a Japanese pseudoscienctist did an experiment on how words can effect water. He put two samples of water on two separate dishes, on one he spoke nothing only kind words and on the other he spoke hateful words. He froze the two samples and later he found the dish with the kind words beautiful clear crystals and in the other dish the one with hatful words black blobs appeared.
Our own bodies are 60-70% water, if we are finding fault and using hurtful words in our own self-talk can you just imagine what the water inside us is like. Like the experiment Masaro Emoto carried out the water inside us will be cloudy and dark. We can all look fit on the outside but everything starts on the inside and to have a beautiful inside it has to start with positive self-talk.
Everything has cause and effect, whatever you put out into the universe will come back to you. If you are finding fault and being hurtful to others that will come to you. Please be mindful and take a second before we go down the road in finding fault. Another approach can often be the better way in motivating a person to gain the momentum again. We are all here to help and support each other, a helping hand is always the best approach.
